A Day at The Ranch Malibu

When I was asked to join a group of fitness bloggers to experience and observe what this wonderful place, The Ranch at Live Oak Malibu had to offer for jump-starting fitness and facilitating weight loss, I was completely excited! Now I can share my firsthand knowledge with others who may benefit from this completely amazing and energizing experience. The Ranch         The ranch itself is one very large plot of land just a few miles from the ocean, and just far enough off the beaten path to feel like it is a far away place. The less distractions during this journey, the better! In fact, my cell…

    Faux Ahi Poke Salad (Vegan)

It has taken some time, but I am  finally to the point where I miss seafood at times. Although nothing will be changing in the near future about my diet, I have gotten creative. For many reasons people are unable to to eat ahi salad, whether it be a fear or uncooked  meat, or a seafood allergy.  I made this recipe as a refreshing snack, but also it’s fun that it is reminiscent of the decadent salad I once enjoyed. *Makes 2 servings 1 well-peeled (supremed) grapefruit, cubed Salad Dressing: 1 tsp white miso paste 1 tsp minced ginger 1 tbsp rice vinegar 1 tbsp sesame oil Red pepper flakes…

    Metabolism Boosting Green Smoothie

Have you  noticed the green drink craze lately? I don’t know when it started, but I think people would juice everything in their fridge if they could! It’s not a bad craze, though since most people have a tough time getting their recommended amount of fruit and veggies each day. I personally do not have a juicer, just a blender. This works just great for me, and I can gain all the same benefits without missing the fiber. Long ago when I discovered dark leafy greens could be added to blended drinks with no detected flavor, I was amazed! This drink is all about boosting the metabolism and detoxing. Kale…

    Daniel Fast: My Top Picks

Though I’m still getting used to saying, “2013” I’m happy to live to see another year! Many people like to reset their body for optimal health by doing a fast. Fasting has varying levels– no water or food, no food, or even just abstaining from certain foods. Almost every year I participate in a 21 day Daniel Fast which can really vary from person to person. It is a great alternative for those who cannot do a full fast for medical reasons such as needing to take medication or issues with blood sugar. You still receive many benefits from this. Though I don’t believe it is mentioned, during this time…

Top 10 Fast Foods (When I'm out of Options on the Road)

Things don’t always go as planned, and there is always less time than we hoped we would have. Sometimes we are just plain lazy! I definitely have had my days. Surprisingly, I’m least motivated to cook on days when I have had to do grocery shopping. No idea why this is the case, but it does feel like I have earned a night off from the kitchen! If you’re out all day and you still have a million errands left, it really is not better to starve. What’s best is to give your body the highest quality fuel money and time will afford you. I know personally on those long…

    Safely Vegan

Recently I was asked for a few tips to help out with a new vegan diet. I can understand wanting to be safe, because many times people set out to become vegan or vegetarian and without knowledge, they become discouraged or even in poor health and they end up switching back to their old ways. It doesn’t matter if you’re trying a pescatarian, paleo, vegan, or vegetarian lifestyle–it needs to be an informed decision. It is good to know your body and your current state of health before starting, and to have a plan. I’ll share with you my tips, and I’d love to hear some feedback on what has…
