Potapas Gluten-free Tortillas Giveaway

Hey healthy bunnies,

Happy Monday!

I have some good news– I have an awesome and easy giveaway contest for you to participate in.

I started using Potapas tortillas more than 6 months ago when I found them at Sprouts. The neat thing is they are low in carbs, no sugar, gluten free, and contain no nuts, soy or corn. I have a ton of food allergies and it is so incredible to have an option when I get tired of romaine or collard wraps. Made primarily of potato– they lack nothing in flavor and substance, and to me taste better than flour tortillas.

I loved them so much that I wanted you all to have a chance to try them. The amazing owner of Potapas has agreed to give away two (2) prize packs which will include a total of four (4) packs of tortilla– a mix  of potato and sweet potato.

See the link below to see the contest and rules!

The Little White Dress | Headshots

Hey healthy bunnies! 🐰
How is your week kicking off so far? I hope today was both prosperous and productive.

I recently got new headshots for my blog and other media outlets. I try to keep mine as up to date as possible.

Since its spring, it made sense to keep it light and fun. I’m a fan of wearing white, taupe, and beige. I think it’s a nice contrast with my skin tone.

I think my photographer, Osose did a fantastic job of capturing my personality and style.

This was my first time visiting the Venice canals, too. Super cute little neighborhood.

As you wrap up your Monday, I encourage you to take inventory. What needs to be done? What can be done? Have you planned your rest time, meals, and exercise? Don’t overwhelm yourself, but do sit and think. Let’s be intentional–it makes all the difference.

Healthy Bunny Gear and Products

Hey healthy bunnies!

I’ve been working on some products and apparel that I know you will love.

For the products, they will be available very soon at this site. You can sign up and get an email as soon as it is launched! For my apparel, it will be available at my usual online store  in just two weeks. I am so excited!

Right now, a lot of my gear is more focused on my women subscribers since they make up almost 90% of the audience, but I am open to ideas if there’s something you want to see for men.

Cooking, Hosting & Healthy Living

Likely you’re reading this because you’re already subscribed to my blog for tips and recipes, or if you wandered to this site you’re someone interested in cooking or health.

A little about me, I recently finished a graduate program in mechanical engineering where I focused on solar cooking options for women in developing countries. It was such a good experience, and I honestly wish I had more time to explore.

Now I work full time and I haven’t saved the world yet, but I do make a little impact by working on reducing air pollution. In addition to this, in every moment of spare time I find, I devote myself to helping improving the quality of life of others around me by trading unhealthy habits for good ones! It’s really rewarding to hear stories of weight loss, improved strength, and even the elimination of the need of medication.

Going along with the theme of health, my most prized product is my book, The Divine Hostess: A guide to cooking, hosting & healthy living . I’m proud of this book because it is my way of sharing my personal experiences with learning to cook and discovering healthier ways to do so. Over the years I’ve found I can take charge of my health primarily by the way I choose to fuel my body, and I can have fun doing it!

If you haven’t purchased a copy, please stop by and do so today. You’ll be happy you did!

“Eat like you love to live!”

Juicing Versus Smoothies

I often get asked, “Which do you believe is better– juicing or smoothies?” My short answer is…it really depends! Watch this video where I discuss the pros and cons of each. I hope to help you find the best solution to fit your lifestyle.

I also tried 3 raw cold pressed juices from Suja

DSC_5417GLOW: This one was my absolute favorite! It has a rich and deep flavor with just the sort of hint of sweetness I love. It has a ton of greens, but not not at all bitter or unpleasant in flavor. This gave me the best burst of energy.

PURIFY: If you are a fan of beets like I am, you’ll love this juicy and sweet drink. To me, carrot and beet were the dominate flavor.

FIJI: This one was yummy, but it was a bit anticlimactic after finding y favorite (glow). Apple was the dominate flavor here, and it did a little less to mute the flavor of the veggies, particularly the celery.

Stop Making Excuses and Save Your Do!

LC has grown to be a great pal of mine through social media, our love of food and fitness- and her ability to make me laugh. She’s such an inspiration!

I’ve come across women who have a strong desire to workout, but don’t because they are afraid of ruining their hairstyle. I myself was in search for a hair scarf or sweatband that would keep my hair as dry as possible during intense training sessions. I often need to run errands right after a workout and my hair is not always up to my standards. I would usually hide my do by throwing on a hat. Not anymore! I’ve found 2 great products that will provide your tresses the protection you desire while breaking a sweat in the gym.

“Save Your Do™ GymWrap is a stylish headband developed with a patent-pending revolutionary “Edge Control Technology” that minimizes sweat absorption through a unique blend of materials that allows heat to escape while letting cool air in. The moisture ‘wicking’ process occurs at the molecular level within the fabric resulting in drier flat hair! “{Source

The “save your do” gymwrap comes in three different variations, narrow, wide and triangle. They retail from 24.95 to 29.95. Click here to go to the website.

Sally’s Beauty Supply carries a similar product called the Dri-Sweat Edge Protector by the Wave Enforcer. They also come in different colors and wrap shapes priced at just 3.99. You can also find them online at various retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and other online beauty supply stores. I have both brands and I’ve been using them for about 1 year now and they both work great.

No more excuses!

Ade, Owner of Noah’s Crew Boutique

I’ve followed Ade for some time on Twitter and she is a great mom as well as a talented designer. I wanted to interview her and take the time to share with all of my readers. The creations in her boutique are right on time for ordering great Christmas gifts.
Q: I know you’re a mom. What are some cool dishes you make for your children that are both fun & healthy?
A:  I’m a mom of two beautiful daughters, a 23 month old very “picky eater” and an 8 year old.  A win-win meal in my home is salmon, either grilled or lightly pan fried in olive oil with salad topped with black bean and corn salsa. If I’m not doing the salad, then it would be steamed mixed vegetables or steamed carrots, broccoli and zucchini. I love quick meals.
Q: How do you keep active & fit with such a busy schedule?
A: It is often challenging to find time for myself being a wife, a stay at home mom of little kids, and business owner.  I find  we make time for what is important to us no matter the circumstances. I am  important in the whole equation and its very important for me to stay healthy.  So, even though I am not quite a morning person and I thought I could never work out in the mornings, I have been having to do just that.  I took over dropping my 8 year old off in the morning so I can head to the gym before my husband jets off to work.  It is such a normal routine for me now and of course running after an active toddler helps too! 🙂
Q: What are your areas of focus for health for you and your family?
A: The areas of focus for health for my family as a whole is really just eating right, trying to maintain a balanced diet, and exercising.
Q: Tell me about your Etsy boutique. What are some favorites in your collection?
A: Thank you for allowing me to share my store:
Its a one stop shop for handmade contemporary African inspired designs. The store was born after I finished graduate school, became pregnant with my 2nd daughter, and decided I wanted to be a SAHM. It has since evolved from making hair clips for the girls and myself  into a greater passion especially for African wax print.  All the items in my shop are handmade by me. It is really hard for me to choose a favorite and I am often tempted to keep them for myself! (laughs) I console myself knowing that I can simply just make myself another one.
