Review: Sun Basket’s Meal Delivery Service

Hi healthy bunnies!

I recently had the opportunity to work with Sun Basket (so this is a sponsored post). Sun Basket is a healthy meal kit service that delivers sustainably sourced organic ingredients and easy, delicious recipes for cooking at home.

How it works: You choose from the menus one week ahead, and they have options for Paleo, vegetarian, gluten-free, and even breakfast.

As you all know, I am big on doing meal prep and really love the process of preparing my meals, but when I agreed to review this service I was skeptical. Whats the point of food delivery if it isn’t already made? Why not just google a recipe and head to the grocery store?

Once I received the first package, I realized this particular service is a game changer for  several reasons:

  • the ingredients are organic
  • the produce chosen is of the best choice
  • all herbs and spices are already measured
  • the recipes are fun and super easy to follow
  • there is a huge range of versatility in each recipe
  • all the nutrition info is provided
  • it forces people out of the routine of making the same few meals week after week
  • the portions are very big, so it’s possible to split it into even more meals

Now, some meals do take longer than others to prepare. Some only took around 10 minutes to prep, while others took 25. Quality meals take time, but if you’re looking for faster prep meals, you may need to choose your menu carefully for the week.

I chose the vegetarian option and really enjoyed all the meals. One meal was a veggie burger with the most incredible and vibrant toppings, paired with simple potato wedges.

I used a lot less oil the recipe called for and the wedges were still very crispy and yummy.

Another dish I really likes was the baked eggs with pistou sauce, a breakfast dish. So much flavor! I’ve never had pistou before this, but it is very similar to pesto sauce, without nuts. This was easy to make and very filling. Since I made a small salad to go with mine, it ended up making 3 meals rather than two.

I don’t like my eggs yolks runny, so that’s why this looks more like a frittata.

What I also like is this service can be gifted to others. Though I made this for my normal meal prepping during the week, I was thinking of how awesome this food would  be for taking to a vacation rental.. Yummy restaurant quality food, made simply at home.

Please note that at this time Sun Basket only delivers to California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Utah and Idaho at this time.
