Biking in Wine Country

This weekend I had the most amazing time in Wine Country. I enjoyed a joint birthday celebration with a friend, and there were 9 people all together.
First we gathered for a picnic in the park around 11:00 am where we had vegetable pasta salad, hummus, fresh fruit and veggies, and donut muffins. 20140331-075839.jpg

Around noon, the whole group met at a local bike shop and picked up bikes, helmets, and maps. Our first stop was 2 or 3 miles away. The place was a winery set on a beautiful sprawling background of a great variety of wines. Some tasted wine, some nibbled on small bites, but everyone enjoyed good conversation. 20140331-080222.jpg
The next stop was another winery, but more than 4 miles away and a little more hidden, since it is nestled off a windy, hilly road. I’ve never bikes more than 6 mikes before, and it dawned on me that we would have to do more than twice that by the end of the ride! 20140331-080813.jpg20140331-080843.jpg
With the rest breaks, the biking was very doable. Wine County is the perfect area to bike this time of year, since the temperature is in the low 60s and it quite breezy.

We returned the bikes and stopped in the downtown area for delicious Mexican food. This place had kombucha from the tap and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had! 20140331-081405.jpg
We shared guacamole and chips before our meal, and my main course was tempeh tacos which were served with picked cabbage. So delicious!
